Although the Internet can be an amazing source of information, it can sometimes be difficult to find the correct web site to meet your specific needs. Many sites that claim to offer the consumer 'impartial' advice have the simple objective of trying to sell you a certain financial product. Our site and our services are different, in all cases we are truly independent and always suggest the product(s) that meets your needs, that is our only concern when helping you manage your wealth.

Independent Financial Advice On Wealth Management

Most people recognise that it is wise to save a part of their income on a regular basis, to achieve their short or long term goals or to meet future income needs. After we have discussed your needs, we can provide valuable information about a number of different products that may be suitable for your savings. Then, together, we can compare the terms offered by different companies, all of which allows you to check your savings are obtaining the best possible interest rates.

We will also provide details of other savings opportunities, such as Unit or Investment Trusts and Life Assurance Endowment policies. One or more of these plans may be appropriate for your savings needs.

Wealth Management and Tax

All governments recognise how important it is to encourage people to save and they normally achieve this by offering tax incentives on a whole host of savings products. These incentives range from reduced levels of Income Tax on Deposit Accounts for most taxpayers through to tax efficient investment growth on products like ISAs. It is also important to realise that:-

  • Equity based investments do not afford the same capital security as a deposit account.
  • the effects of inflation can reduce the spending power of any savings or investments you choose to make. You should take these effects in to account in any long-term plans.
  • The value of some savings or investments plans can vary and even reduce in value.

Covering the above areas and providing explanations of the financial risks involved is all a part of the sound financial advice provided by MFA IFA.

Local Information that you may find useful

History of Birmingham

The area we now call Birmingham has been inhabited as far as the Bronze age, however, very little remains from this era except the scattered flint stones and bronze artifacts that can be found in the city museum. Early Roman roads passed through the region, with Anglo-Saxon tribes settling in the region around 700 A.D.

Evidence of Saxon settlement is apparent from the name endings of some of Birmingham's well known localities. The suffix -ley means clearing in a forest. Therefore Selly, Yardley, Moseley and Warley are very likely to have been Saxon clearings.

The town of Birmingham itself was a hamlet hence ending in ham and the followers of the ingas of Birm or Beorma lived there, and this completes the equation. Medieval and Norman occupation also added to the variety of interesting place names, the origin of which is often buried in a very murky past.

The Domesday book of 1086 valued Birmingham manor at £1, whilst the most populous area at Aston recorded just 43 adults. The next recorded entry in the history books comes in 1166 when Peter de Birmingham bought the right to hold a weekly market in his castle. The market prospered and Peter laid the foundations of the town of Birmingham. Later the some of the citizens formalised an agreement with William de Birmingham which freed them from the compulsory haymaking duties. Freed from this task and those like them, they could turn their attentions to the new and lucrative cloth industry. Birmingham had started its long road to being a manufacturing powerhouse.

Birmingham continued to expand through the 14th to 16th centuries, the population expanding to 23,000 by 1730. With the booming population came more and more commerce, mass production in factories lit by gas starting as early as 1765.

The canals were the next innovation and by the 1800's these were thriving with over a 100 boats a day leaving and arriving in Birmingham. The railway arrived in 1837 with more and more railway companies arriving every year. New Street Station itself was opened in 1854.

Birmingham is often thought to be the home of the Industrial Revolution, being known for its contribution to arms manufacture and transport, the transatlantic cable, iron and even the Orient Express. Importing raw materials from and exporting to all four corners of the world, Birmingham made a marked contribution to the United Kingdom as we know it today. Indeed Birmingham is known throughout the world for its innovation and manufacturing, earning the name of the "City of a thousand trades", home of the motor industry, Dunlop, Lucas and BSA, to name just a few.

The two world wars took their toll of course, with much damage being done to the city by the Luftwaffe. Since then Birmingham has been rebuilt and continues to grow apace. Birmingham today is a bustling, vibrant and multi cultured modern city.
